Three years ago on this day, I got a phone call from my doctor. Since then, my life has been very different than what I had expected. I wouldn’t say things went my way—quite the opposite. I had many complications through my treatment, not to mention being immunocompromised in a global pandemic.

But, finally, it seems like things are taking a turn for the better. While I’m still on some medication to treat some permanent side effects, I’m starting to move onwards on my path. I’ve been accepted to my dream school, the University of Waterloo, for Software Engineering this Fall.

It’s crazy how three years can seem like the slowest but simultaneously the fastest years of your life. I’ve certainly changed as a person and my outlook has changed immensely as well. There are certain things I’ll never take for granted again. But, I’m grateful for all the blessings I have been granted, and I’m looking forward to resuming my life.
